Welcome to the gray matter

The author of this newsletter, Ashley Juavinett, sits at a table behind a microscope.
Your host, strategically positioned behind a microscope to convince you that I am, indeed, a scientist. Not pictured: white lab coat and many years of education for very low pay.

I'm Ashley, a neuroscientist, educator, and writer. This newsletter is a place for me to share thoughts and stories about how we understand our brains and ultimately ourselves. Come on in if you want to explore the line between fact and fiction, the real stories behind the headlines, the gray matter of it all.

Outside of this place, I'm a teaching professor at UC San Diego, author of So You Want To be a Neuroscientist?, co-host of Change, Technically, and caretaker for a fluffy dog that is far more extroverted than I could ever hope to be.
